Allen Michlig, Age 81 of Wausau, peacefully went to be with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 15, 2025, with his children at his side.

Allen was born April 8, 1944, to the late Alex and Dorothy Michlig. He was 1 of 7 children. His most talked about childhood memory was spending the summer working on his Uncle Johnny's farm in Marathon City.

Allen married his high school sweet Janet Kohnhorst on October 24, 1964. They had 3 children, Karen, who went to heaven shortly after her birth, Ann Michlig, Minneapolis and Andy (Krista) Michlig, Wausau. They had 2 two grandchildren, Jared Michlig, Wausau and Katelyn (Kyllian) Martin of Overland Park, Kansas. They were married 54 years before Janet passed away in November of 2019.

Janet and Allen built a home in Rib Mountain and lived there together for 50 years. Allen was a devoted family man and grandfather. He was very involved in both his children's lives and grandchildren's lives. He really loved the fact that his 2 grandchildren lived just blocks away from him and he was able to be an active part of their daily lives.

He was a real outdoorsman. He enjoyed deer hunting, Ice fishing, downhill skiing, motorcycling, boating and camping across the country on summer trip and in Minocqua. He loved Nascar.

Allen was a hard worker. He worked at the Marathon County Highway Department for 37 years and was proudly committed to keeping Highway 51 North clear at all hours of the day and night. He also worked for Baraboo Sysco Foods and Lamers Bus Line.

Allen was also known for how meticulously clean he kept his cars and everything he that he owned. That skill led him to be a great candidate to maintain the vehicles for the transportation ministry at church. He enjoyed helping kids get back and forth to church functions safely and driving kids on the bus to camp each year.

The most important event in Allen's life was when he accepted Jesus Christ as His personal Lord and Savior in his early 30's. He thrived on being an active part of the Christian community which included Christian camping at Forest Springs, being a leader at AWANA clubs, and serving as a deacon.

Allen was a genuinely a happy person. He really enjoyed being around people and making people laugh. He had a million-dollar smile. He was generous with hugs. He always made an effort to get to know his children's friends and included them like family in every way. Allen was a mentor to many including friends of his children.

A celebration of life for Allen will be held on Tuesday, November 25 at Highland Community Church, Wausau Campus, 1005 N 28th Ave. Visitation will start at 1:00pm. The service will start at 2:00pm.
