Anthony James Cherek (Tony) passed away at Aspirus Hospital on January 12, 2022 at the age of 74. Tony was born on April 21, 1947 to John and Esther Cherek. At the age of 18, he joined the Navy and was discharged in 1970. He followed his father's footsteps and became a career truck driver. He Married Jacqueline Van Gordon and they later divorced. He married Janet Rich and they drove semi together for many years. He is survived by his wife Janet; Children: Pamela(Victor) Buie, Macon, GA; Patrick(Dawn) Cherek, Rosholt, WI; John(Tracy) Crews, Eland, WI; and Shannon(Jason) Orlowski, Minnesota; Grandchildren: Kayleigh, Marisa, Isaiah, Emma, Christopher, Kimberly, Orrin and Olesia. Siblings: Joan(Ray) Kiewit, Vicki(Steve) Peterson, Dorothy(Marty) Snyder, Mary Jo Cherek Oliver, and Jake(Sandra) Cherek. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert, and sister Susan. Tony enjoyed playing cards with a group of close friends, casino trips with his cousin and playing scrabble with family. We all know Tony was a talker. You'd often find him engaged in heated discussions about politics and the state of the world. He was a storyteller, entertaining others with his stories of his travels, hunting and fishing tales. He lovingly teased his grandchildren but was also very proud of their accomplishments. We'll miss the lively discussions.
