Carl Berg — 51 Years of Laughs, Procrastination, a Bit of Denial and a Lot of Love

Carl Berg, 51, checked his eyelids for holes for the last time on November 2nd, 2025, after a lifelong streak of good humor, bad choices, and firm disbelief that he had diabetes — despite clear evidence, several doctors, and his concerned sister saying otherwise.

A professional at "taking it easy," Carl was known for his laid-back attitude, silliness and his unwavering belief nothing was urgent. Carl could turn any moment into a joke and any frown into a laugh. He loved his friends, his family, music, animals and naps.

He leaves behind loved ones who adored him, an unbelievably huge number of to-dos and a reminder that sometimes laughter really is the best medicine — even if you ignore the actual medicine.

Everyone who knew him has a "Carl story" and if you don't - don't worry, someone will happily tell you one. A celebration of Carl's wonderfully unserious life will be held in December. Please come as you are: casual clothes, full heart, and with your story ready.

Rest easy, Carl. You were right — laughter was the best medicine. (But maybe take the insulin next time.)
