Christine Wendland(Slater), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully in her home on October 27th, 2026 with family by her side.

Born on August 2nd, 1951 to Kenneth and Pearl(Beth) Slater in Racine, WI. Chris resided in Racine for the first 22 years of her life. She birthed her first two children there: James Richard Albright Jr in 1970, and Kim Marie Albright in 1972. She and her two children left Racine and lived in various locations before deciding to settle in Appleton, WI for a few years. It was there that she met her husband, David Wendland. She then birthed her third child: Jeffrey Scott Albright in 1976.

Chris and Dave were married in 1978 in Appleton. They spent their first two years married there and then made the decision to move to Merrill, WI where the rest of their lives together would unfold. She spent many years as a homemaker, raising her children and living her life before starting her career as a caregiver in 1988. This was her calling. She loved her job and she loved those she cared for. She worked as a caregiver for many years, starting at Hurd House, then Pinecrest, then Bell Tower, and ended her working years at Good Samaritain Hospital – retiring early due to a back injury. Throughout those years her family grew, and her next great passion would be her Grandchildren.

Christine loved her dogs. She loved the casino. She loved a cold PBR. And she loved her family and friends. She truly was a fun and free spirit.

She was preceeded in death by her parents: Kenneth and Pearl Slater. Three Brothers: Butch, Dennis, and Steve Slater. Three sisters: Glory, Karen, and Debbie. And her first born son: James Albright.

She is survived by her husband: David Wendland. Her two youngest children: Jeffrey Albright and Kim Ballenger. Her Grandchildren: Brandy Heyden, Stephanie(Brandon) Thompson, Jeffrey Albright, Samantha Gleason, and Jasmine Albright. And eight great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held in her honor on November 22nd, 2026 at S and S Bar in the banquet hall in Merrill, WI at 2pm.
