Obituary

Darrel Lynn Elpert, born August 24, 1951, to the late Ewald and Carmen (Schmidtke) Elpert, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on August 16, 2026.

Darrel's greatest joy in life was his family. He married Judy Schorer and together they welcomed their daughter, Amy. Darrel and Judy later divorced, and Darrel's life led him to Barbara Timm who he married on January 30,2003.

Darrel was a man who knew how to have fun and never had trouble speaking his mind. He was outspoken, a jokester, and a genuinely funny guy who could keep those around him laughing. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing blackjack, and his dog Lil Miss. He was also happiest when he was outside, whether mowing the lawn in the summer or snowplowing in the winter or keeping up his yard and home.

Most of all, Darrel loved his family. He treasured the time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, and extended family. He leaves behind countless memories, stories, and laughter that will continue to be shared for years to come.

Darrel is survived by his wife, Barb; daughter, Amy (Daryl) Jakobi; grandchildren, Brittany (Roger) Garcia, Trevor (fiancé Krysara) Jakobi, Amber (fiancé Chris) Jakobi, and Dylan Jakobi; eight great-grandchildren, Trenton, Brayden, Addy, Ronan, Bostyn, Mateo, Paxtyn, and Emmy; five stepchildren, Steven (Tiffany) Seefeld, Tracy Timm, John Timm, Ricky Timm, and Wayne Timm; nine step-grandchildren Makayla, Makenzie, Ryley, Taya, Carisa, Chloe, Vince, Cinnamon Sierra ; four step-great-grandchildren Luna, Nora, Myra, and JoJo ; and his siblings, Dennis, Tom (Sandy), Jim (Renee),Robert (Debbie), Sue (Jerry) Sandy, and best friend Gene Gotter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ewald and Carmen Elpert; and three brothers, Bill, Kenny, and Dick.

A Celebration of Darrel's Life will be held Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 1-7p.m. at The American Legion Post 358, Unity, WI 54488. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Darrel's life, share stories, and remember the laughter and love he brought to so many.
