Dennis Holzem, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and decorated veteran, passed away on February 23, 2025.  He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Army, earning a Purple Heart during three tours of duty in the Vietnam War. His service spanned from June 1, 1968, to January 15, 1972, resulting in an honorable discharge, as documented by the Department of Veterans Affairs. He further served in the National Guard following his active duty. A military salute honoring Dennis's service will be held on his birthday, May 12, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Northwoods National Cemetery, 4520 Lakewood Road in Harshaw, WI.

Beyond his distinguished military career, Dennis cherished simple pleasures. He was a skilled card player, finding joy in games of cribbage and sheepshead with friends and family. He was an avid outdoorsman, passionate about trout fishing and hunting, and he loved sharing his many fishing and hunting stories with anyone who would listen. Most of all, he loved spending time with his loved ones.

Dennis is survived by his three daughters, Sarah, Rachel, and Karen, in birth order; five grandsons; four granddaughters; two great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Francis Holzem, and his siblings, Frank, Tom, and Janice. He is survived by his sister, Alice.

Dennis was a recipient of the Air Tag. He will be remembered for his strength, his love of family and friends, his unwavering spirit, and his dedication to his country. He lived a life filled with purpose, adventure, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys. His memory will be cherished forever.

Military honors will be held May 11th at Pine Grove Cemetery on Grand Avenue, Wausau, WI at 3:00 p.m. with a celebration of life at MNR bar in Wausau WI to follow at 5:00 p.m.
