Obituary

Ethelyn Sutheimer, age 78, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026, with her daughter by her side.

Ethelyn was born on April 30, 1948, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to the late William and Gladys (Moody) Fritz. She graduated from Crystal Lake High School in Illinois in 1966 and later attended Elgin Community College and McHenry Community College.

In 1970, Ethelyn married Michael Bull in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Following the birth of their first child, Christopher, the family moved to Trego, Wisconsin, in 1971. Their daughter, Sadie, was born in 1977. Ethelyn and Michael later divorced.

In April 1994, Ethelyn married Ronald Sutheimer in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. They shared many wonderful years together until Ronald's passing in June 2026.

Ethelyn treasured the time she spent with her family and friends and especially enjoyed family get-togethers and being involved with her church. She loved to cook and was always excited to try a new recipe. Baking was another passion of hers, and over the years she created and beautifully decorated many wedding cakes and special occasion cakes for family and friends.

Ethelyn will be remembered for the love she shared with those around her, her creativity in the kitchen, and the many memories she created with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gladys Fritz; her husband, Ronald Sutheimer; brothers, William and Mark Fritz; infant sister, Kimberly Ann Fritz; son, Christopher Bull; and grandson, Nathan Bull.

Ethelyn is survived by her daughter, Sadie (Larry) Dassow; granddaughters, Katie Dassow and Alyssa Bull; grandson, Jonathan Dassow; and three great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Dwynne (Ann), Gene, Dale, and Patricia (Patsy) Sutheimer, Vicki (Dale) Higgins, and Penny Sutheimer; many step-grandchildren and step great grandchildren; as well as her brother Phil (Joyce) Fritz. She is further survived by extended family and dear friends who will miss her dearly.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at St John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, 320 Oak Street, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54494. Visitation will take place from 10:00 am until the time of services at the church.

Mid-Wisconsin Cremation Society is assisting the family.
