Gary Dale
Flick
Jun 18, 1957 — Mar 26, 2025
Gary Dale Flick, 67, Stevens Point, completed the final chapter of his life's story on March 26, 2025, with a beloved friend at his side. Gary was born to Ruth (Downs) and Dale Flick on June 18, 1957, in Bluffton, Indiana. He moved with his family to Northbrook, Illinois and later relocated to Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
Gary will be remembered by many for his kindness and warmth. He was a thoughtful and unassuming person who loved spending time with family, friends, and being a part of a small community. Some of his fondest boyhood memories were of spending time at his family cabin and fishing from their rowboat. This shaped the rest of his life and his love for his dogs, animals, nature, camping, gardening, and other outdoor activities. He lived his life intentionally to minimize his footprint on the earth. Gary enjoyed many genres of music, sports, and classic cars, and he was the co-founder of a WWSP trivia team.
In 1992, Gary received a kidney and pancreas transplant at UW Hospital in Madison. In gratitude to his donor and the second chance she and her family gave him, he cared for this gift by eating healthy foods, exercising, meticulously following medical advice, and living his best life. It is an extraordinary accomplishment to have transplant organs function well for nearly 33 years. During this time, he patiently and valiantly overcame many challenges that resulted from years of immunosuppressant drugs and juvenile diabetes.
Gary will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and his dog Kiera. He is survived by Paul Flick, Ryan (Jackie) Flick, Kara (David) Lee, nephews Ian, Justin, and Tyler Flick, and cousins.
Gary was uniquely close to his dear friends Nancy Turyk and Randy Slagg and Nancy's family. He will especially be missed by survivors Mary Turyk (Jerry Kuprewicz), Robin Kuprewicz, Sam Kuprewicz, Robert Turyk, Iris Hohe, and Matt Hohe.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents Ruth and Dale Flick, grandparents Rollie and Leona Flick and grandparents Robert and Edna Downs, uncles Lauren Flick and Jim Flick, aunt Ernestine Flick, Cousin Lisa Flick, and his dogs, Buddy and Suzie.
Gary's life will be celebrated on June 22nd, 2025, from 3-6 pm at the Lodge at Collins Lake County Park near Rosholt, Wisconsin.
Mid-Wisconsin Cremation Society is currently assisting the family. Online condolences can be made at MWCS.WS.
