Gary L. Thomsen, 68, of Dorchester, Wisconsin, passed away at his home on October 6, 2026.
Gary was born on September 5, 1958 in Medford, WI to William and Beverly (Meier) Thomsen.
Gary spent his early years working on the family farm of his aunt and uncle, Margie and Eldor Frischman, where he developed the strong work ethic that stayed with him throughout his life. He later studied meat cutting in college and joined his wife’s family business, Pinter’s Packaging Plant in Dorchester, Wisconsin.
Over the years, Gary worked for Kolbe & Kolbe, Tombstone Pizza, and Meyer’s Equipment, where he remained until retiring in 2023.
Gary proudly served with the Dorchester Fire Department for 38 years and later as an EMT and ambulance driver for many years, making a lasting contribution to the safety and well-being of his community.
Gary married Beth Pinter, and although they later divorced, they shared 13 years of marriage and raised four children: Chad (Jessica) Thomsen, Nicholas (Jenny Brost) Thomsen, Kimberly (Joey) Shatwell, and Makala Thomsen.
Gary was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: Graci, Gavyn, Kyle, Maggie, Savana, Makenzi, Carsen, and Alexus. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Skyelyn and Nyl.
Gary is survived by his brother, Greg Thomsen, and his sisters, Patricia (Bill) Kaiser and Paula (Jerry) Brost. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gary will be fondly remembered by his family and lifelong friends for the countless days they shared at sporting events, hunting, and at lively tavern gatherings. His warm presence and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
A Celebration of Life for Gary will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Frickin A Bar & Grill in Dorchester, Wisconsin, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
A private burial will take place at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family or to Dorchester Emergency Services in Dorchester, Wisconsin.
