Obituary

Gloria Bartlett, age 85 of Weyauwega, was called home by her Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, on October 27, 2021. Gloria was born July 13, 1936 in Chester, Montana, the oldest daughter of the late Alfred and Catherine Lenz. Gloria was raised by her Aunt Orpha and Uncle Walter Steinert, of Oshkosh, by the age of 8. Gloria graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1954. While in high school, Gloria started working at the First National Bank, from 1953-1960. Gloria worked for JJ Keller from 1960-1964. From 1964-1998, Gloria worked at the Neenah Foundry, retiring after 34 years there. On October 1, 1960, Gloria married Ervin Bartlett at Peace Lutheran Church, Oshkosh. The Bartlett's resided in Neenah for 37 years, when in 1997, they moved back to Oshkosh. After five years of retirement, at the age of 67, Gloria started her own business as a mobile notary signing agent, working for title companies. Ervin was the driver and Gloria had the documents in order; they made a great team. Gloria and Ervin enjoyed 57 years of marriage together, before Ervin was called to eternal home in 2017. Gloria and Ervin regularly attended First English Lutheran church, Oshkosh, enjoying the Wednesday mid-day services and luncheon that followed. Throughout their retirement years, Gloria and Ervin enjoyed their coffee clutch at Hardees on 20th Ave; the friendships and laughs shared together filled their mornings with fellowship and purpose. Gloria's joy was playing cards; sheep head and cribbage. She played on leagues for each, also entering tournaments in the area. Gloria was active in the Oshkosh Senior center (playing sheep head in the afternoon, with the men), Club 54 post high school monthly gatherings, and the Oshkosh 20th Century club. Gloria was often times referred to as the "hat lady", wearing hats to cover up her battle with mantle cell lymphoma since 2006. Her faith in the Lord and perseverance kept her strong. Ultimately, cancer didn't win, but congestive heart failure and pneumonia. Gloria and Ervin raised two children, Troy & Tracy. Family times together included camping all summers at Patzer's in Wild Rose, swimming, camp fires and cards. Prioritizing family time and providing a Christian home and upbringing for their kids was important to her. The world was a better place because she was in it. Gloria brought cheer and joy into the lives of those she touched. Gloria is survived by her children, Troy Bartlett of Weyauwega, Tracy (Michael) Schettle of Greenville, grandson through marriage, Warren Schettle of Oshkosh, and great grandchildren Dominic and Logan Schettle, of Oshkosh, a sister Darlene (Jim) Beck of Townsend, MT, God son's Terry Wahlgren, of Jackson, and Tom (Teresa) Bartlett of Maple Plain, MN., sister in law Janny Bunke of Oshkosh, Patsy (Ronnie) Schwartz, Shirley (Lenny) Richter of Oshkosh, Lora Cumber Bartlett of Oshkosh, brother in law Jerry (Myrna) Bartlett of Oshkosh, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Bartlett in 2017, sister's Barbara Hetzel of Oshkosh, Mary Lou Veal of Albany, OR., and God son Lee (Lynn) Bartlett of Oshkosh. A funeral celebrating Gloria's life will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at First English Lutheran Church, 1013 Minnesota St, Oshkosh, WI 54902 with Pastor Tim Greenwald officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 am to time of the service at noon.
