Gloria Jean Hitt, 80, of Kronenwetter, passed away peacefully, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital on October 1, 2026, with her husband by her side.
Gloria Jean Wyant was born on December 22, 1945, to James and Liona Wyant in Antigo, WI. She went to school there, and after graduating high school, married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Hitt, on November 7, 1964.
She was a member of the Hogarty Presbyterian Church before becoming one of the first members of the Covenant Community Presbyterian Church in Weston. After raising her children and retiring from a career at JC Penney’s in Wausau, she and Ron did what they loved most, they packed up the RV and travelled. They were able to travel to many places, visiting sights, family, and friends, and for over 30 years, spent their winters in Brownsville, Texas. Gloria loved playing cards and board games, but her ultimate joy was spending time with her beloved great grandchildren Jerome and “Little Miss Ann.”
Gloria is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ronald Hitt; son Ron (Barb) Hitt; daughter, Michelle (Randy) Dunst; grandson, Mike (Jenny) Hitt; great grandchildren, Jerome and Ann Hitt; sister-in-law, Donna Wyant; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Andy Hitt; brother, James Wyant; and sister and brother-in-law, Carole and Duane (Tuffy) Johnson.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00pm on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Covenant Community Presbyterian Church, 1806 Weston Ave, Weston, WI 54476. Visitation will take place from 2:00 pm until the time of services at the church. Casual attire is requested. Mid Wisconsin Cremation Society is assisting the family.
