Obituary

James (Jim) Richard, H. Abel age 68, of Kronenwetter, WI passed away on May 31,2024 at his home after a long struggle with chronic illness.

James was born on August 3,1955 to Marion and Henry Abel in Wausau, WI. After graduating from DC Everest High School, he went on to pursue a life-time career dedicated to automotive repair/technology.

Jim was co-owner of Jon's Auto in Kronenwetter where his life-long love of cars touched the lives of so many people through the cars he would meticulously maintain for them. Some just passed through and others were regulars… many would just come in for a friendly visit. It was important to Jim that their cars were fixed right and he put his life into that commitment for his customers. Jim also had a deep dedication to his family—being there when he could and helping with so many projects that needed fixing, doing or figuring out. He was proud of his children and grandchildren and loved them dearly.

In addition to his love of family and for cars—mostly old ones, Jim enjoyed camping; fishing, especially with his wife Carey on Star Lake; hunting; the camaraderie of friends and following the Packers.

Jim married Carey Marie Hofmann in September of 1981 and they had they two children, Adria and Brian.

Jim was predeceased by parents, Henry and Marion, brothers Leon and Robert, and daughter Adria.

Jim is survived by his wife Carey; son Brian (Haley); grandchildren Kinsley, Lola, Hudson;

sister-in-law Linda Abel; nephews Eric and Kevin Abel; and mother-in-law Esther Hofmann.

Per Jims wishes there will not be a funeral or memorial service. Please remember Jim in ways that are uplifting and most meaningful to you.

Additionally—Heartfelt thanks are expressed to Jim's Aspirus Hospice Care team.

They are incredible caring people who provided genuine compassionate care during his end-of-life journey.

Mid Wisconsin Cremation Society is assisting family at this time.  Online condolences may be expressed at MWCS.WS
