James "Jim" Willard Farrar Sr. of Wausau, WI., passed away on December 8, 2021. Jim was born on October 8, 1953 to Willard and Berttie, and was the second of five children. Stoic in nature, you could always count on Jim's calming voice while he listened to your problems. Sharp wit and a quick tongue guaranteed you would walk away from any conversation with a laugh and a smile. Jim was a massive sports fan. His love of the Packers and Badgers would send you into hours of conversation about the current seasons team. Jim was a blue-collar guy to the core and never objected to a hard day's work. Jim grew up in Wausau and the family moved to Rothschild where Jim attended DC Everest, there Jim and his brother Tom met a life-long friend Lyle Boelter. Jim started working with his father and brothers as iron workers and they helped build the Century Insurance building in Stevens Point. After years of working odd jobs, he moved to West Texas to work the Robinson Oil Rig. He then went to work again for his father at the Lamesa Truck Stop before eventually taking over the business. Jim was blessed with four children, whom he would brag about to anyone that would listen. He loved his children and they were his biggest joy in life. Jim eventually moved back to Wausau where he retired from Kolbe & Kolbe after 20 years. During that time, Jim learned a new appreciation for love and family through Rita Russ and her daughter Sabrina. Jim is survived by his children: Jenifer Dane (Drew); Quinie Leary; James Farrar Jr (Diana); Justin Farrar; Step-Daughter Sabrina Daniels (Guy). Grandchildren: Katherine Dyer; Hailey Lewis; Brittney Leary; Willow Farrar; Phoebe, Bridgett, and Wyatt Steele. Siblings: Tom Farrar (Lois); Tim Farrar (Linda); Laurel Farrar; and David Farrar (Sara). Step-Siblings: Carolyn Simonis; Ed Miller; Laurie Wade; Brian Miller. He is also survived by a vast extended family and numerous friends. If you had met Jim, you knew him to be one of the most loving, caring, and down to earth people ever. He was proceeded in death by both his Parents: Willie and Berttie; Step-Parents: Marge and Bob; Niece Coni Norton; Nephew William Pickett; Rita Russ, his companion of 17 years. Jim will be cremated and laid to rest in Crandon, WI., August 16th, 2022 at 1pm.
