James E. Marshall February 13, 1946 – December 12, 2024

James E. Marshall, 78, of Gleason, Wisconsin, passed away on December 12, 2024, at Aspirus Langlade Hospital after a courageous year-long battle with cancer.

Born on February 13, 1946, to Gordon Sr. and Marie (Hoecherl) Marshall, James grew up on the family farm and developed a strong work ethic while working alongside his father in the logging business. His passion for the outdoors and dedication to his craft led to a lifelong career in the woods, where he found both purpose and peace.

James was a Certified Master Logger and the founder of Marshall Forest Products, a family business that he built with hard work and perseverance. He cherished his time in nature, whether it was logging, hunting or fishing. He enjoyed woodworking and mechanical projects but above all, James valued the time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

On June 1, 1968, James married Lorraine (Folta) Marshall in Bloomville, Wisconsin. Lorraine was the daughter of Emil and Alvina (Mosser) Folta. Together, James and Lorraine built a life of love, partnership, and dedication that spanned more than 56 years.

James attended Liberty Bell Grade School and Antigo High School. His life's work and legacy were not only evident in the forests he managed but also in the family he nurtured and the values he instilled.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; his children, Steve (Stacie) Marshall and Brenda (Dale) Raab; his grandchildren, Jarrid Raab, Jeffrey (Tara) Raab, Jacob Marshall, and Whitney Marshall; and his great-grandchildren, Noah Raab, Sawyer Marshall, Parker Raab, Briar Klemann, and Myles Raab.

As James requested, no formal funeral service will be held. Instead, a celebration of his life will take place in the spring.

James E. Marshall leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and a deep appreciation for life in the great outdoors. He will be dearly missed.
