Obituary

Jean Marie Shoemaker (nee Hanutke), 85, of City Point, was peacefully called home on September 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Jean married the love of her life, Herbert Charles, on September 27, 1960. They lived and raised their children in Wisconsin Rapids, Menomonee Falls and Lannon before returning to City Point for their retirement in 2005.

Jean is survived by her children: Laurie Siewert, Herbert Jr. (Christina) Shoemaker, Kristine (Keith) Elliott; Grandchildren: Jennifer Siewert, and Hannah Shoemaker, Lukas, Elliott, and Atticus, Elliott; Great Grandchildren: Emma, Addie, and Jaxon; Siblings: Frank (Pat) Hanutke, Tom (Dale)

Hanutke, and Terry (Jane) Smith; In-laws: Clara (Nick) Gonnering, Shirely (John) Tollaksen, Beverly (Terry) Kimball and Rick Reshel; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Margaret (Reshel) Hanutke; husband Herbert Charles Shoemaker; sister Jane Smith.

We would like to thank Frank (Pat) and Tom (Dale) Hanutke, Clara (Nick) Gonnering, Beverly (Terry) Kimball, niece Cindy (Jack) Cole, nephew Jeff Hanutke and his sons, Ethan and Tyler, for being there for Jean. We would also like to express our gratitude to all the family and

friends that regularly checked in on her with kind words of support. Your kindness and generosity will always be remembered.

We would also like to thank the staff at Marshfield Medical Center for their loving care during her stay.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her dear family and friends where her memory will live on through them. In remembrance of her life, she loved cooking and baking, please consider donating to your local food pantry in her memory.

Honoring her final wishes, there will be no funeral service. Together, the ashes of Jean and Herbert will be laid to rest at the City Point Cemetery at a later date.
