Mom… Jewel F. Goodwin, affectionately known as Jo, passed away on January 28, 2026, in Wausau, Wisconsin, at the age of 87.

Born on September 19, 1939, in Ft Smith, Arkansas, Jo brought warmth and vitality into the world from the very beginning. Her spirited nature and outgoing personality made her a memorable presence to all who knew her.

Jo shared over five decades of companionship with her beloved husband and life partner of 52 years, Lee R. Yusten of Westboro, WI. Together, they built a life filled with enduring love and shared memories.

She was a devoted mother to her children: Rochelle Cherek (Wally) of Wausau, Wisconsin; Lyle Qualls (Solita) of Florence, Colorado; and loved her daughter Lora Adams (Mike) of Kingman, Arizona. She was a Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother to several grandchildren. Her family was central to her life, and she held each member close to her heart.

Jo was preceded in passing by her son Daniel "Dano" Qualls (Denver, CO), daughter Teresa Phelan (Stoughton, WI), and Marie Bruggs (Russ) (Medford, WI). Their memories remained an important part of her life story.

In her quiet moments, Jo found joy in tending to her garden and challenging herself with crossword puzzles, card games, and reading- simple pleasures that reflected both her nurturing spirit and sharp mind.

Jo's vibrant personality left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved her.
