Jimmy Harvey Moon, 78, of Merrill, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 11, 2026, with his loving family by his side.

Jimmy was born on March 19, 1948, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the late Charles and Catherine (Murphy) Moon. He was deeply proud of his Native heritage and honored to be a member of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians. His heritage was an important part of who he was, and he carried that pride throughout his life.

On July 3, 1976, Jimmy married the love of his life, Debbie Laske. Their time together was far too short, as Debbie passed away on December 8, 1987, from complications of lupus. Although she was taken from him much too soon, Jimmy continued to love her every day for the rest of his life. This year would have marked what would have been their 50th wedding anniversary.

Jimmy had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and for living a simple, meaningful life. He was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan and rarely missed cheering on his team. He loved hunting and took great pride in tanning his own deer hides. Horses were one of his greatest passions, and many of his family's favorite memories were made riding trails together. Those times spent on horseback brought laughter, adventure, and countless stories that will be cherished forever.

As a young boy, Jimmy raised sheep and, with patience and determination, made a blanket from the wool himself. It was just one example of his hardworking nature and his ability to create something meaningful with his own hands. He and his daughter Jessie also raised pigs together when she was a young girl, and Jimmy was looking forward to Jessie getting a new house built so the two of them could again raise pigs together.

Above everything else, Jimmy treasured his family. Nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with those he loved. He was incredibly proud of his daughter, Jessie, and his grandchildren, who were truly the light of his life. He loved each of them unconditionally and always wanted to make things better for them. Whether offering advice, lending a helping hand, or simply being there when he was needed, his family always knew they could count on him. They were his everything.

His family will forever be grateful for his unconditional love, steady guidance, and the many lessons he shared throughout the years, like: "If you're riding and see a bear in the woods, just hold on—the horse knows where to go." It perfectly reflected his trust, wisdom, and calm approach to life.

Jimmy is lovingly survived by his daughter, Jessie "Baby"- Jessica Zulliger; his grandchildren, Shylo Moon and fiancée Rebecca, Kyle (Jenna) Zulliger, Kira (Tyler) Stone, and Daniel Zulliger and his significant other, Heather; his great-grandchildren, Matthew, Riley, Nate, Adalee, and Ellie; his brothers, Charles Moon and Delbert Moon; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Debbie, Jimmy was preceded in death by his sisters, Nora (Robert) Hooker, Charlene Moon, and Laura Moon; and his sister-in-law, Linda Moon.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Woodlawn Cemetery, W15626 Woodlawn Road, Birnamwood, WI 54414, in the Town of Hutchins. Family and friends are invited to gather afterward for food and refreshments at Hutchins Town Hall, W15698 Red River Rd E, Birnamwood, WI 54414.

Jimmy will be remembered for his quiet strength, kind heart, unwavering devotion to his family, and the love he carried for those closest to him throughout his life. His legacy will live on in the memories he created, the values he instilled, and the stories his family will continue to share for generations to come.
