Joan Marie Toivonen passed away on November 30, 2025, at Dimensions Living of Wausau (Azura); under the care of the devoted staff and Interim Hospice.

Joan was born on May 14, 1932, in Wausau to the late Ejnar and Elnora Gisselman. On July 17, 1954, she was united in marriage to Robert S. Toivonen, and they were devoted to one another until his passing on August 16, 2016.

Joan was a wonderful, kind, and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandma, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to all she met.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and her daughters Lynn Toivonen and Julie Weigel.

She is survived by her daughter Ann (Peter) Henkes of Racine; her son-in-law, Jason Weigel of Mosinee; her granddaughter, Megan (Dominique) Harris; and her great-grandchildren, Ella and Ben Harris, all of Manitowoc. She is also survived by her brother, Gerald (Sharon) Gisselman of Wausau, along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private family service will be held.
