Joel Allen
Boldig
Mar 6, 1965 — Aug 1, 2026
Joel Allen Boldig, 61, passed away tragically as the result of an automobile accident on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
Joel was born on March 6, 1965, in Wisconsin to Jay and Marlese (Sengstock) Boldig. On November 12, 1983, he married his high school sweetheart, Carrie Hull.
Joel spent more than 40 years working in manufacturing and operations. In 2026, he joined Crystal Finishing, where he continued his career.
Joel spent his life on the family land where he was raised, a place that had been in his family for generations. Living alongside parents, grandparents, and extended family, he raised his own family there, continuing a tradition that was an important part of his life.
He had a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, kayaking, biking, and spending time on the land he called home. He and Carrie also had a passion for raising and showing horses, an interest that took their family on many adventures over the years.
Joel was a talented woodworker and handyman who could build or repair nearly anything. Together, he and Carrie founded Rustic River Mosaics, where his craftsmanship helped create custom furniture and woodworking pieces that quickly became well known and highly sought after. He was also known for his skill at the grill and smoker, taking pride in preparing barbecue and meals for family and friends.
To his grandchildren, he was Papa Joel. He was the loud, goofy grandpa who kept everyone laughing and brought energy wherever he went. At family holidays and gatherings, Joel was often the life of the party, and no one ever knew what he might say or do next. His grandchildren adored him.
Joel is survived by his wife, Carrie Boldig; his son, Adam (Megan) Boldig; his daughter, Chandra (Kyle) Jochimsen; his grandchildren, Jaela, Kinslee, Benjamin, Austyn, Wyatt, Everett, Holden, Jack, and John; his mother, Marlese (Dave) Lindsay; his brother, Jeff (Deborah) Boldig; his sister, Jennifer (Steve) Byers; his mother-in-law, Donna Hull; his sisters-in-law, Cheryl (Terry) Nillissen and Patty (Mark) Kropf; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jay Boldig, and his father-in-law, Donald Hull.
Joel's memory lives on through his wife, Carrie, his children, and his grandchildren, who carry forward some of the very best parts of him; his appreciation for the outdoors, his practical skills, his sense of humor, and the traditions he helped create. His legacy can be found in the family homestead, the pieces he built with his hands, and the memories made with those who knew him.
