John Steele, 56, of Brokaw, WI, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2022 after a battle with Cirrhosis. Some may know him as Jocko, John Boy, or Johnny Iron but to me, he was Dad. John was born in Libertyville, IL to James and Jeanne Steele on a warm August day in 1966. He graduated from Lakeland High School, Class of '84, where he created lifelong friendships in Minocqua, WI and found a love for snowmobiling and golf. John dedicated over 20 years to the Wausau Paper Mill, primarily as an Electrician. Here, he developed long lasting memories and countless friendships. John was a loyal Chicago Bears fan, even on the days his family and friends would heckle him for it. As a big foodie, he could often be found trying new places in town and always looking to support his favorite local businesses. He loved his cat, Smokey and his grand-pup, Rey who he spoiled with each visit. John had a heart sometimes too big for his own good and the best bear hugs, paired with a warm smile. Above all else, he was a great friend to many and a loving father. He will be missed dearly but his memory will live on with us forever.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Jeanne Steele and sister, Jane Steele. John leaves behind his daughter Kaylee (Brad) Harvey, step-son Dustin (Sara) Foth and brother, Jeffrey Steele.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date and more details will be shared soon.
