Joshua Richards, age 48, of Birnamwood, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.

He is survived by his mother, Debra, who was by his side until the end; his siblings, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his loyal service dog, Ruger, whom he loved wholeheartedly.

Josh was born on July 5, 1977, to James and Debra (Flamingo) Richards. He was preceded in death by his father, James.

Josh was the proud father of Justina, JoeDeana, James, Isaiah, Ethen, and Layne; and loving grandpa to Braylee, Haisley, and Addison. He was also a cherished brother to Cameron (Kari), Angela (Curtis), and Heather (Jamie); and a beloved uncle to Annika (Misael), Julia, Maya, Benjamin, Jonathan, and Aiyanna.

After school, Josh was a building contractor for many years. Due to an injury on the job, Josh dedicated much of his life to caring for others, working as a caregiver at an assisted living facility. His kindness and compassion extended far beyond his work—he was a devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend.

A man of many talents and hobbies, Josh found joy in fishing, wood and leather working, crafting, butchering, cooking, and hunting—especially when shared with his children. He had a tender heart and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Josh will be remembered for his generosity, humor, creativity, and the deep love he showed to his family and friends.

A celebration of Josh's life will be held from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the Matsche Community Center, 362 Railroad Street, Birnamwood, WI.
