Kurt James Fenske, affectionately known to family and friends by his nickname, Boo Boo or Boo for short, left this world on August 27, 2021 due to complications from Covid-19 and was lifted on the wings of angels to join his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in Heaven. A man of deep faith, Kurt spent time each day in God's Word. His faith was the foundation upon which he lived his life by. Born on October 23, 1967 to Norman and Beverly (Genrich) Fenske in Red Wing, MN, Kurt spent the first five years of his life in Ellsworth, WI. His family moved in 1972 to New London, WI, where he graduated from New London Senior High. A skilled athlete, he earned athletic letters in basketball and football and was recruited as a walk-on by the Wisconsin Badger Football Team. Due to a sport's related injury, he incurred while in high school, his career with the Badgers was short lived. None the less he could claim he was once a member of the Wisconsin Badger Football Team. Kurt attended UW-Madison and earned a degree in Physics with an emphasis in Astro Physics. While attending school at Madison, Kurt was chosen to participate in a program at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA. On many occasions his family would introduce him as our "Rocket Scientist". Kurt would then go on to earn an Electrical Engineering degree from the UW-Milwaukee. He started working on a doctorate in Electrical Engineering, but life would take him down a different road. While working on his doctorate, he was an instructor for the Mathematics Department at UW-Milwaukee. Kurt's professional career consisted of employment at several companies located in Wisconsin and Illinois. His career saw him traveling to Europe, Japan and South Korea as well as numerous U.S. Military facilities including the Pentagon. His name can be found at the United States Patent Office associated with nearly a dozen patents. If you were to tell anyone the name of these devises, they would have no idea of what it is or what it does, but these devises have made everyday life better for millions of people. At the time of his passing, he was employed by Oshkosh Corp as a Sr. Program Manager. Most people would think Kurt never found "that special someone" to spend his life with, but he had. Their career aspirations took them in different directions. Not having a family of his own, he made up for it by spending as much time as he could with his parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and his friends. He welcomed everyone to his home in the North Woods. He served as a father figure to his nephews upon the death of his older brother, Kevin. An accomplished pianist, he wrote scores of original piano music over his lifetime. Some of our most cherished Christmas memories involve Kurt playing the piano while the family sang Christmas Carols. Things would get a little crazy when his sister Debbie and brother Kent, would join him on the piano bench and the three of them would play six-handed piano. Someone who could be called an imposing figure, he was really just a big teddy bear, who was afraid of the dark and mice, was a fan of Romcom movies, and his favorite channel was the Hallmark Channel, especially the Christmas themed movies. Time and time again, Kurt was heard to exclaim while watching Hallmark movies and seeing an actress for the first time, "I found my new wife, I'm going to marry her." Kurt enjoyed feeding the birds, chipmunks, the neighborhood Red Fox, he named "Blue" and watching all wildlife. He also enjoyed following the Brewers, the Packers, the Badgers football and basketball teams, four wheeling, snowmobiling and spending time on his pontoon in the Harrison Hills, the place he called home. His siblings were blessed to have been able to spend a weekend with him just weeks prior to his passing. The highlight of the weekend was a stargazing cruise with Kurt at the helm of his pontoon. Kurt is survived by his sister Debra (Steve) Morgan, their children Stefany (Jake) Ullery and Aaron (Marina) Morgan; his sister-in-law Mary (Flanagan) Fenske and her children Jason (Sara) Fenske, Dr. Rev Aric (Marie) Fenske and Christopher (Nicole) Fenske; his brother Kent Fenske (special partner Michael Kopitske), and his brother Scott (Glenda) Fenske and their two sons, Jordan and Ethan (fiancée Haley McCollough). He is further survived by many great-nieces, great-nephews, and many cousins and friends. He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Norman and Beverly Fenske and his brother Kevin Fenske. A celebration of Kurt's life will be held at a later date. Our family would like to thank the staff at Aspirus Wausau Hospital Covid Critical Care Unit for their tireless dedication to their patients and the care they provided to our brother, Kurt We would also like to thank the Mid Wisconsin Cremation Society for assisting our family during this time of loss.
