Obituary

Lawrence F. Kainz, Sr. (Larry) of Weston, was called to his eternal home on Sunday, September 26, 2021. He was born on July 7, 1937 the son of Louis and Alice (Spaulding) Kainz. He was a graduate of Birnamwood High School Class of 1955. He proudly served in the United States Navy. On December 31, 1957 Larry married Jean Mary Clay in Pine City, MN. They shared 44 years of marriage together until she preceded him in death on September 9, 2004. Larry worked at Wausau Paper Mill (Brokaw) until his retirement in 1998. Larry could always be found meticulously manicuring his lawn and tending to flowers and plants. He enjoyed listening to a good William Johnstone western, along with the Green Bay Packers, Badgers, and Milwaukee Brewers games. Above all, he loved spending time with family and friends. Larry spent much of his time listening to and singing along with Classic Country Music. His love of music has been passed down to his children and grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, granddaughter Rebecca and siblings John, Arthur, Wilber, Fred, Louis, Bernie, Del, Bob, James, Nellie Miller, Doris Yagodic, Mary Dunnifer, Delores Walz and Lydia Walter. Survivors include four children Larry (Kathy) Kainz, Jr., Lyle Kainz, Sandy Kellner, all of Wausau, and Wanda McCarthy of Weston Grandchildren Shannon (Mark) Mudler, Melissa McCarthy, Colleen (Zachary) Richter, Erin McCarthy, Zachary (Lori) Kainz, Chad Bradkorb, Kristen (Avery Luedtke) Kainz, Deanna Kainz Great Grandchildren Matt (Justine Deva), Kari (Jonathan) Sain, Nolan, Madeline, Gunner, Daegon, Eva, Fernella, Selwyn, Juniper, Jesse (Savannah) Drake, Jackson, Jenna, Alexa, and Andy Great-great Grandchildren Ashilin, Adrian, Aria and Jona. He is also survived by three sister-in-laws Alma (Herman) Albrecht, Cheryl Stone, and Jean Clay; and many beloved nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm on Thursday, September 30th at Hogarty Community Church, 4132 State Hwy 52, Aniwa, WI. The Rev. Roger Davis will preside. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Hogarty, following the service. Visitation will take place from 1:00 pm until the time of services. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, no meal will be served. Larry's family would like to thank everyone for the prayers and well wishes during this extremely difficult time.
