Lawrence "Larry" G
Klopotek
Oct 2, 1937 — Jul 12, 2025
Larry (Lawrence) Klopotek passed away on July 12, 2025, at Marshfield Medical Center in Weston, WI.
Larry was born on October 2, 1937, to Harry Klopotek Sr. and Cecelia Klopotek. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed overseas in England. After completing his military service, Larry returned to Wausau, WI, where he owned and operated the Sunset Bar and Larry's bar on Hwy 52 and near Wausau Homes. He also owned a boat known as the Flatdecker, which he loved using to take friends fishing. Additionally, he worked as a charter fisherman, bringing many people out on Lake Michigan. When Larry wasn't running his charter boat or tavern, he enjoyed spending time with friends playing sheepshead, pitching horseshoes, and shooting pool. He also loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. A fantastic cook, he delighted everyone with the meals he prepared and shared.
Larry is survived by his sisters, Lucille (Milton) Pyke, Etta Stanke, Bonnie (John) Martin, and his brother, Terry Allen Klopotek, along with his sister-in-law, Lois Klopotek, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Cecelia Klopotek, as well as his brothers, Harry Jr. Klopotek and Laurel Klopotek, and his sister, Beatrice Jagodzinski. Larry will be deeply missed by many.
At Larry's request, no service will be provided. Mid-Wisconsin Cremation Society is currently assisting the family. Online condolences can be made at MWCS.WS.
