Obituary

Lester M. Lendrum, age 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8th in Compassus Hospice at Rennes Health and Rehab Center. He was born on May 31, 1942 in Chicago, IL. to Lester R. and Frances (Knab) Lendrum. Lester was their only child.

Lester was a 1964 B.S. Electrical Engineering graduate of the University of Illinois - Champaign Urbana where he was a tenured lecturer until his retirement in 2001. During summers off from teaching, he worked with the U. S. Army Corp of Engineers on a multitude of projects both domestic and abroad. He was an accomplished academic who had multiple papers published on a variety of subjects, most notably in the field of avionics. He was the recipient of many awards over the course of his professional career.

Lester was married, in 1969, to Marian Buch who was killed, in 1971, in a motorcycle accident caused by a drunk driver. They had no children. He later married Jean Ezell, in 1990, whom he divorced in 1994. They had no children. Lester then married Lola Lotter in 2007.

Lester and Lola enjoyed traveling in the U.S, and internationally. They particularly enjoyed traveling on tours around Europe exploring their heritage. He also enjoyed fly fishing, photography, playing card games and his daily Sudoku and crosswords.

Lester is survived by his wife, Lola Lendrum of Weston, her children, Michael (Diane) Lotter of Marathon; and Tammy (Paul) Ramsay of Charlotte NC; seven step grandchildren and one step great grandchild; and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, his maternal grandparents Martin and Anna (Rossman) Knab, of Athens; his paternal grandparents Lester and Carrie (Russell) of Chicago, IL.

He will be inurned at Restlawn Mausoleum and a private family memorial service will be held at a later undisclosed date. Lester will be missed by family and friends.
