Obituary

Margaret "Peggy" Oravez, 88, passed peacefully July 7th in Wausau, WI. Peggy was born June 27, 1936 to Lawrence and Florence (Graykowski) Brennan.

Peggy was a Wausau native. She met Robert "Butch" Oravez in 1944, they were childhood sweethearts, and later married on October 18th 1958. You know you're from Wausau if you remember Bill's Fine Food. Peggy and Butch owned and operated Bill's Fine Food for over 30 years and she served as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Wisconsin Restaurant Association for 7 years.

Peggy also worked at Wausau Insurance for 10 years. She earned the Insurance Institute of America Certificate in General Insurance, and the Certified Professional Insurance Woman's Designation.

Peggy was passionate about many things in life. She loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed riding her bike and completed several century bike rides. In her later years you could find her on a trishaw ride with Butch, when she wasn't watching General Hospital. She was an excellent cook and baker. She also loved her hats and had one for every occasion.

Peggy is survived by her husband Butch, her brother Bruce (Sandy) Brennan of FL, her sister-in-law Judy Brennan, brother-in-law Walter (Gloria) Oravez, her loving daughters Holly (Dan) Westaby, and Heather (Mike) Gilles, her grandchildren Maggie (Keenan), Meredith (Justin), Kyle (Amanda), Jacob (Lia), great-grandchildren Vinca, Luke, Finley, many nieces, nephews, and special friends (you all know who you are).

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, her sister's Terry and Patsy, her brother's Larry and Jimmy.

A Celebration of Life for Peggy will be held Monday, July 15, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 5304 North 44th Avenue, Village of Maine, with granddaughter Rev. Maggie Westaby officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church, continuing until the time of service. A luncheon will follow.

The family would like to thank the many caring nurses and doctors at Aspirus Hospital, especially the Palliative care unit for all of their compassionate care.

Mid Wisconsin Cremation Society is assisting family at this time.  Online condolences may be expressed at MWCS.WS
