Melissa June Farrar (Shidell) passed away unexpectedly on February 2nd, 2025. She was born in Wausau, WI, on August 8th, 1983.

Melissa was raised by her mother, Kitty (Colvin) DeVore, in Wausau, WI, and grew up with her five sisters and two brothers. She was a wild child. When Melissa was younger, her siblings say she was known to run around with no clothes on, mooning anyone in sight. This was when Melissa got her signature nickname, Moonie. She loved spending time with her big brother Chuck and learning about cars. As a young adult, Melissa loved being in the presence of her family and friends. You'd likely find her playing rap music with her best friends, cruising her hometown.

Melissa became a mother to her son, Dylon, at a young age and later gave birth to two more beautiful children, David and Jaelyn, with her beloved husband, Joseph. Her family is the greatest love of her life. In later years, Melissa dedicated her time to being a mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Melissa loved cooking with her big sister Jamie, learning recipes passed down from their mom. Melissa loved her job helping her best friend from childhood run a resort in the north woods of Tomahawk, WI. She loved Kayaking and being outdoors with her husband and son, David. She was a wonderful mother to her beautiful, sassy daughter, Jaelyn, who will carry on Melissa's light. Melissa spent a lot of her time advocating for others who struggled with addiction and mental health issues, a true passion she cared deeply about.

Melissa is survived by her Husband, Joseph Farrar, and children, Dylon, David, Jaelyn, Bryce, and Haile. Her amazing mother and father-in-law, David and Sara Farrar. Her siblings Jamie Zarazua, Michelle Seehafer, Chuck (Kathy) Groff, Cindy (Steven) Schultz/Betts, Jennifer Martinez, Rebecca Garcia, Amanda (Melissa) Fisher, and Anthony Hackbarth. Her nieces and nephews: Milo (Brynn), Brooklyn, Miguel, Christian, Brandon, Kyle, Harley, Lucas (son, Colt), Deven, Misty (Greg, Peyton, Alaina), Cody (son, Bradley), Natalie, Antonio, Elliana, Destiny, Pauliana, Jasmine, Cora, Roman, and Nevaeh.

Melissa is preceded in death by her mother, Kitty (Colvin) Devore.

The world will shine a little less brighter without her presence. Her family and friends will greatly miss Melissa.
