Peter J. Aston, loving husband, father, and brother, is with the Lord. Peter, "Rocky," 70, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023, during emergency heart surgery. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 52 years, Donna (Turner); his son, Caleb, and his wife, Lindsey, and her daughters, Addison & Payton, from MN; his daughter, Leah, from OR; his brother, David (Claudine Galitello), from CT; his brother, Timothy (Jayne), from MT; his sister, Rebecca, from CT; and many nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate the life of Peter will be held Thursday, August 10 at 11:00 am at Bethany Baptist Church 6601 Alderson St. Weston, WI. Visitation will be held at the church on the same day from 8:30-9:30 am and continue after the service. There will be time to share a brief "Pete story" at the service. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be sent toward a memorial being planned by the family.

Peter was born on March 31, 1953, in New Haven, CT. The son of the late John & Ruth Aston. He grew up in Wallingford on the Choate campus. His dad worked as a mechanic and maintained the ice rink where he and his brothers and childhood friend, Pete G., developed their love for hockey. His mom was a gifted organist, pianist and piano teacher. Peter carried on the appreciation of music for the rest of his life. He accepted Jesus as Saviour and Lord of his life at age 14. He graduated from Lyman Hall H.S. in 1971, where he was voted most friendly and was very active in sports and band. Peter completed a post-H.S. year at Choate Rosemary Hall, and attended UConn and Pinecrest Bible Training Center in NY.

Donna & Peter met at the Christian youth group, Cheshire Teens, in 1971 and were married in 1976. Their early marriage was active in fellowship with Christians from all walks of life and with SEARCH ministries. Moving to Guilford, CT, in 1978, they started a family and he built their first home with a lot of help from family & friends. He felt called to SEARCH ministries WI, so the family moved to the Rothschild area in 1987.

Peter's jobs in CT included furniture & cabinet making and maintenance carpentry at Choate. In WI, he worked at Marathon Electric, drove school bus for the DCE District, and retired from his favorite job in 2016, Automation Solutions Plus. He was also self-employed as a finish carpenter and with the help of his friends built his second house in Schofield.

Peter's priority was spending time with family. He referred to work as what he did to pay the bills. His passion was discipleship & counseling and helping others develop a deeper walk of faith in Jesus. He received additional training with Freedom Ministries and the International Center of Biblical Counseling. He invested deeply in the lives of hurting people through his gentle compassion, skill, and discernment.

Peter was a gifted musician, singing and playing guitar, harmonica, flute and trombone. He had an active role in church praise & worship and worked to develop youth in their own worship band and ministry. He played on the worship team at Bethany, Downtown Mission, Wausau Alliance and for many small groups and gatherings.

For fun, he rough-housed with his Jack Russell terrier, Tucker. He tried to hunt & fish but enjoyed swimming, dancing, hiking, and canoeing with Donna. He also enjoyed yard games, disc golf, and concerts, but most of all riding his street, fat tire, and mountain bikes with Jerry & other friends.

He will be missed.
