Obituary

Rachel Sue Stanton, 51, of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026, after a courageous six-year battle with stage 4 breast cancer.

Rachel was born on September 6, 1975, at OSF Hospital in Peoria, Illinois, to Frank and Sue Campbell. She moved to Stevens Point in 2000, where she made her home and built a life centered around the people she loved most.

Rachel married the love of her life, Matthew Stanton, on September 13, 1997. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared many years of love, laughter, and memories.

Rachel was a devoted wife, mother, and Nana. She was the proud mother of Joshua, Kaitlyn (Chris), and Brooke (fiancé Connor), and the beloved Nana of Colt, Jaxon, Bo, and soon-to-be-born Addison. Her grandchildren were among the greatest joys of her life, and she loved them more than anything.

Rachel's passion for children extended far beyond her own family. For more than 15 years, she operated an in-home daycare, creating a place where countless children were cared for, loved, and welcomed as part of her extended family. Her ability to make children feel safe, special, and loved was one of the many things that made Rachel so extraordinary.

Rachel proudly served in the Illinois National Guard from 1992 to 1997 and was a member of the 144th Illinois Army National Guard Band. She served her country with the same strength, determination, and commitment that she brought to every part of her life.

Family was everything to Rachel. She loved gathering everyone together, and no family gathering was complete without one of her large, homemade meals. She was always quick to remind everyone to stay out of her kitchen—unless, of course, they were there to help. Those meals, crowded kitchens, laughter, and time together will forever be some of the memories her family treasures most.

Rachel was also one of the loudest and most dedicated fans in the stands. You could almost always find her cheering from the sidelines at her children's sporting events. She encouraged her kids to work hard, believe in themselves, and always strive to be their best. She wasn't afraid to push them—and anyone who knew Rachel knew that when she had something to say, she meant it.

Rachel was stubborn, strong-willed, and determined. Those qualities were part of what made her who she was, and they became especially evident during her six-year battle with stage 4 breast cancer. She fought with incredible strength and perseverance, never allowing cancer to define the person she was or the love she had for her family.

Above all else, Rachel loved her family. She found her greatest happiness in being a wife, a mother, a Nana, a sister, and a friend. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her, but her love, strength, laughter, and the memories she created will live on through the people she leaves behind.

Rachel is survived by her husband, Matthew Stanton; her children, Joshua, Kaitlyn (Chris), and Brooke (fiancé); her grandchildren, Colt, Jaxon, Bo, and soon-to-be-born Addison; and her siblings, Frank Campbell (Megan), John Campbell, and Heather McCarty (Bob), along with several nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Sue Campbell, and her in-laws, James and Barbara Stanton.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on October 18, 2026, at Jordan Park, East Lodge, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Rachel's life, share memories, and honor the incredible woman, mother, Nana, and friend she was.

Rachel's life was defined not by the years she was given, but by the love she gave during them. She leaves behind a family who will miss her more than words can express—and who will carry her love with them always.

Mid Wisconsin Cremation Society is assisting the family. Words of remembrance may be shared at MWCS.WS.
