Raymond George Bird, Jr. was born in Winnwood, Missouri August 3rd, 1937. After graduating from North Kansas City High School in 1955, he started working at TWA, where he worked for 36 years. He joined the United States Navy Air in 1961 and then later the Air Force Reserves retiring in 1997 as First Sargent for the 78th APS. After 9/11 he went to work as a training supervisor for TSA, traveling to different airports to train others.

He married the love of his life, Sarah Sue (Baker) September 22, 1961.

After battling cancer for several years he passed away September 16th, 2024. He was preceded in death by his son Steven Ray Bird.

He is survived by wife Sarah Sue, two daughters Kathy (Steve McMurtrie) and Kelly (William Plank), 5 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
