It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rita Eileen Madden, a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Rita passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025 at the age of 81, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born to Tom and Marie Donovan on August 2, 1943 in Mauston, Wisconsin. After graduating from high school, Rita moved to Milwaukee, where her future sister-in-law introduced her to Dan Madden, who became her husband of 59 years. Together, they had two children: Vickie and Keith.

Other than keeping Dan in line, Rita loved playing bingo and traveling around the country to different casinos with Dan. She liked taking pictures and her grandchildren especially enjoyed posing for "Grammy pictures" at family gatherings. She loved her family and was happiest when she was spending time with them.

Rita is survived by her husband, Dan Madden and her children Vickie (Mark) Vander Pol and Keith (Nancy) Madden. She was a proud Grammy to Alison (Troy) Drabek, Hailey Madden, Bradley Vander Pol, and Skylar (Brian) Brandt. She was also a new Great Grammy to Alaina and Victor Drabek.

Rita was raised in a family of ten children, of whom five are still living: Patty, Sharon, Judy, Joe, and her twin sister, Ruthie; those who predeceased her are Jackie, Tom, Kathleen, and Tim. She also married into a family of ten children who were like her true siblings, of whom five are still living: Norman, Toots, Betty, Gary, and Connie. Between these two families there are countless loved nieces and nephews.
