Robert Lee Osborn, age 95, went home to be with his Savior on January 10, 2022. Bob was born September 9, 1926 in Wausau to the late Helen Natarus (Pittsley) and William Osborn. On July 23, 1947 he married his best friend Arlene "Dolly" Gnirk in Wausau. Bob was a part of the "greatest generation" and proudly served in the U.S. Navy in WWII. While in the Navy, he served on an Amphibius Landing Ship Tank and traveled up and down Europe from Normandy to the Straits of Gibraltar. He then worked at the Wausau Paper Mill in Brokaw for over 40 years as a paper maker. Bob's favorite time was spent at his home on Lake Wausau where they lived for over 50 years. He was famous and well respected on Lake Wausau for his knowledge of duck hunting. For 44 years he enjoyed being out in the blind with his friends Pat Geier, Clark Everest, brother Tim and dog Tar. Bob also enjoyed working in his workshop where he carved the most beautiful waterfowl and song birds. His excellent, detailed work earned him a display at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum. He was also a proud member of VFW Post No. 388 and always enjoyed getting together with fellow service members and sharing stories. Bob enjoyed taking bus trips with his wife to many places in the U.S. such as the Naval Academy in Annapolis Maryland and Branson Missouri. They also traveled many times to Arizona to see their son Dan and his family. Bob had a great sense of humor, quick wit and enjoyed rooting for the underdog, including the Detroit Lions. Bob is survived by his children Kenneth Osborn, Rothschild and Jamie Peterson (Mike Glover), Green Lake. He is survived by his grandchildren Sean, Nate, Sara, Casey, Shane, Josh, Jesse, Justin, Jacob and Tracy. Bob was also blessed and is survived by his great-grandchildren Aleigha, Ashlyn, Haley, Cheyenne, Brittany, Copper, Isaac, Brayden, Olyvia, Lydia, Drake, Ainsley, Vittoria, Owen, Eden, Maya, Lily and Blake and great-great grandchildren Brogan and Myah. Also survived by his brother Tim Natarus of Arizona, and sister Mary Jane (Arnold) Seltzer of Florida He was proceeded in death by his parents, bride Arlene "Dolly", son Daniel and grandson Jordan. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at Pinewood Super Club February 6, 2022 with drinks and appetizers from 2:00-3:30, dinner will be on your own starting at 4. This summer he will be laid to rest at the King Veteran's Cemetery. He will be missed by all, but we take comfort in knowing he is with the Lord and is reunited with his wife Dolly after 18 years to the date that she was called home.
