Our beloved Ruth Josephine Albert peacefully passed away at home on May 19, 2025. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose life overflowed with love, laughter, adventure, and a timeless sense of style.

Ruth was born on September 13, 1935, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Margaret and Charles Bashford. A proud graduate of Lincoln High School, Ruth embraced life from an early age. Her first job was as an elevator operator at Milwaukee's historic Pfister Hotel, where she had the chance to meet celebrities, including football stars and entertainers like Liberace. Ruth worked in a variety of roles — from Briggs & Stratton to being a nanny, and later at ShopKo and Lands' End.

She married Fred Evert in 1963, and together they raised three children: Kevin (Tammy) Evert, Colleen (Dave) Friant, and Brian (Holly) Evert.

Ruth had a remarkable zest for life. Just after high school, she and a close friend drove all the way to California, sightseeing, hiking, and even crossing into Tijuana — always eager to explore new places and make lasting memories. She passed that sense of wonder and adventure down to her grandchildren, whom she cherished dearly. She loved taking them to parks, inviting them for sleepovers, and making homemade bread with them. In retirement, she found joy in caring for her great-grandchildren, slicing up bananas and kiwi, getting on the floor to play, and soaking in every moment.

She also had a lifelong love for thrift shopping—not just for herself, but always thinking of others, delighted to find a treasure or a good deal to share.

Ruth's faith in Jehovah was the foundation of her life. She actively shared her beliefs with others and lived her values with kindness and sincerity.

Her love, generosity, and sense of adventure were unmatched. Ruth lived to make others happy, and her joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Stevens Point.
