Obituary

Sharon Christine Stachnik, 65, left us too soon, on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Sharon Stachnik was born into this world January 19th, 1958, to Carol Dunham and Joseph Racette in Milwaukee, WI. After graduating from High School in Hill City MN she came to Milwaukee to study nursing. She professed her first and only vows in 1978 to her husband.

Sharon spent many years helping to raise two children and later enjoyed watching her four grandchildren grow. She volunteered with local schools and Cub Scouts of America, instilling practical skills, and helping to teach the next generation. She enjoyed gardening and loved to share her knowledge with anyone she met. She worked at various garden centers for many years and loved horticulture. She lived in Caledonia, WI for 19 years and moved to Hatley, WI in 2002.

After a few years, she retired and helped begin a quilting group in the Hatley area. Her friends and family cherish her beautiful quilts every day. She enjoyed working with her quilting group and together made quilts that have been donated to individuals in need of comfort and warmth. She was also an avid geocacher and along with her husband, they regularly attended group events and explored the local area and the world.

Whenever Sharon was around, she lit up the room. Sharon was a deeply understanding and affectionate person and had a gift of relating to new people and loved ones alike. She could start meaningful conversations with anyone and make them laugh. She gave the best hugs, and always had a smile. She is loved and cherished by her husband, children, grandchildren, daughters-in-laws, best friend Marge, and many others.

She loved, cherished, and is survived by her husband James, children Matt and Chris, and grandchildren Ethan, Odin, Quincy, and Azalea.

As per Sharon's wishes, no formal services will be held. Her last remains will be spread in the forests, so please walk with her. She however wanted her loved ones and friends to gather and enjoy - in her own words - "One hell of a party!". Her family hopes to plan a simple gathering, to be held at a future date: possibly one in the Hatley area and one in the Milwaukee area. Dates will be communicated soon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials/donations in Sharon's name may be directed to your charity of choice.
