Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Shelley R. Hartwig, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, age 70, of Merrill, on Sunday, January 19th, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Shelley was born on December 26th, 1954, in Merrill, WI, to the late Francis "Buddy" and Shirley (Juneau) Hartwig.

A lifelong resident of Merrill, Shelley graduated from Merrill High School and dedicated her life to caring for those she loved. She was a nurturing soul and a cherished matriarch whose wisdom, warmth, and unconditional love left an everlasting mark on all who knew her. Whether offering a comforting meal, a welcoming home, or heartfelt guidance, Shelley made everyone feel seen, valued, and cared for.

Shelley's kindness, humor, strength, and resilience defined her. She had a remarkable ability to make each person she encountered feel important and loved. Her family was always the center of her world.

In her free time, Shelley found joy in attending concerts with friends, cheering on her brother Tylor at truck pulls, fishing up north, and tending to her gardens. She also loved cooking, canning, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Shelley's love for animals, especially dogs, was boundless, and she will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Shelley is survived by her daughters, Randi Rae (Brian Callos) and Haile Renee' (Philip Polack); grandchildren Skylr Woellner (Brandon Ullenbrauck), Dasan Marsh (Mia Yang), Spencr Woellner, Joscelyn Callos, Adeline Callos, Thatcher Callos, and Abel Nelson; and great-grandson Paxon Marsh, along with many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Shirley; brothers Tylor, Kelley, and Kim Hartwig; and nieces Jessica Hartwig and Jerrica Woller.

In keeping with Shelley's wishes, a celebration of her life will be held at the Merrill Town Hall on March 8th at 1100am.
