Stephen "Stevie" Allan Medvecz passed away on Friday, January 31st, 2025 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau. In recent weeks, his health challenges intensified, and his big heart could no longer sustain him.

Stevie was known for his larger-than-life sense of humor and a deep passion for hunting, a pastime that connected him to nature and brought him immense joy. He enjoyed visiting with friends at Sunrise and Coral, and was looking forward to winning some Super Bowl pools. He held a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews, who fondly recall countless cherished memories with "Uncle Stevie"; from learning the ways of farming and hunting to sharing in mischievous adventures, Stevie's presence enriched their lives in unforgettable ways. In later years, he delighted in getting to know their growing families, continuing to share his warmth and humor across generations.

A familiar sight around the township, Stevie could often be found driving with his beloved little dog, "Puppy" by his side. His gestures left lasting impressions—whether it was handing out Hershey bars to his great-nieces, great-nephews and neighbor kids, or stopping along the way to check in with family and neighbors. These simple acts of kindness reflected the spirit that defined him.

Stevie was born Dec 14th, 1960. He graduated from Newman High School in 1978 and in his younger years was a dairy and beef farmer. He is survived by his sister Ruthie Blado, nephews Carley Blado, Scott Blado, and Ben Schroeder; nieces Stephanie Schroeder, Hannah Klay, Susan Hincy, Valerie Arnold and Emily Stone, and he always considered Lance Neumann a nephew. Also survived by many cousins who continued to check in on him or give him a call to reminisce about the old days on the farm. He was preceded in death by his father Steve Medvecz Sr., mother Violet Medvecz, sisters Mary Ann King and Karen Klay, and special Uncle Joe who defined for him the legacy of being "that" Uncle.

The Town of Hewitt community played an extraordinary role in Stevie's life. With immense gratitude, his loved ones acknowledge the kindness and understanding shown by this close-knit community. They looked beyond his challenges, always offering unwavering support throughout his journey.

Stevie faced numerous health battles with remarkable bravery, demonstrating resilience and strength. His legacy is one of humor, love, and perseverance.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday Feb. 9th, appropriately scheduled on Super Bowl Sunday at the Hewitt Town Hall, 12 noon to 3. Stevie loved community potlucks so we will welcome that "dish to pass".
