Steven George
Voss
Feb 26, 1947 — Jun 28, 2024
S. George Voss passed away on June 28, 2024, at the age of 77. He was born on February
26th, 1947, in Madison, WI to the late Merlin Voss and Eleanor Himsel. He graduated from
Middleton High School in 1965 as a top basketball player. He went on to play at UW-Riverfalls
where he was also known to drive a Shelby Cobra. He graduated in 1970, and was always
very proud that all 10 of Merlin and Eleanor's children graduated from college.
George soon moved to Medford where he was a physical education teacher and Medford's
High School boys basketball coach. He enjoyed playing in basketball and softball leagues
through the years. He started a landscaping business to fill his summers and that eventually
became his full time employment. George added snow-plowing and a bison ranch south of
Stetsonville, WI to keep himself busy. When his children were in school he enjoyed coaching
them in basketball and hockey and all can remember well his encouragements from the bench
and the stands. After his children graduated, George left the area to pursue other interests,
living in Bullhead City, AZ and Waunakee, WI before moving back to the area to spend time
with his children and grandchildren. George lived life to the fullest and was always dreaming
up his next adventure. Being a grandpa was the greatest joy of this life.
George is survived by his children Steven (Katie) Voss, Callie (Jake) Crass, Courtney (Jesse)
Klingbeil all of Medford and David Parsons of La Jolla, CA; grandchildren Everett and Sam
Voss, Grady and Wyatt Crass, Taylor and Hudson Klingbeil and Carly Hesterberg; his siblings
Jim Voss, Susan Sprague, Marty (Karen) Voss, Kyle Voss, Jeff (Jan) Voss, Kim Voss, Nick (Julie)
Voss, Luanne (Greg) Fax, and Jon (Christine) Voss; stepmother Ali Voss; and friend Cassie
Wegner.
George will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
