Obituary

Susan J. Nault, 72, of Rothschild, passed away peacefully at Aspirus Wausau Hospital holding her daughter's hand on Tuesday, June 11 , 2024.

Susan was born in Antigo, WI to Vertie and Leora(Crum) Brown on November 6th 1951, she was the youngest of their 6 children. She went to school in Milwaukee and began her career there working with children. She married Joseph Nault in 1979 and later welcomed their daughter, Jessica. Susan followed various job opportunities throughout her career in both the Milwaukee and Antigo areas, never wanting to be too far from family.

Sue demonstrated her passionate personality in all she did at work and at play. She worked tirelessly as a teacher, principal and school administrator, touching many lives in her long career. Outspoken and opinionated, she was unafraid to verbally challenge anyone who got in her way of doing the best job possible. While she worked doggedly, she also played with a fun filled zest for life. She was involved in community theatre, play productions, volunteer events and enjoyed hosting big parties. She loved to cook, her spaghetti, lasagna and chicken soup were just a few of the most revered. Sue loved gardening and flowers; wildflowers, purple pansies and home-grown tomatoes and cucumbers were just a few of her favorites.

Sue carried creativity in her very core. She was a talented writer. In her later years, she crafted the most beautiful cards! Never making the same card twice, she wanted them to be as unique and special as every occasion they were made for. Sue always put forth the effort to be a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. Her joy filled presence will be missed at the tables where she played rummy, cribbage and backgammon. Most of all, birthdays will never be the same without her singing Happy Birthday.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her eldest brother Vertie Brown Jr., her nephews Darrin Brown, Daniel Brown, niece Lori Brown, her aunts, uncles and several cousins.

Susan is survived by her daughter Jessica (Nault) Vullings (Josh Springer), her beloved grandchildren Landon Vullings and Allisun Springer. She is also survived by her siblings Beverleylee Brown, Tracy (Susan) Brown, Michael (Pamela) Brown, Anthony (Carol) Brown, her sister in law Barbara Brown, her nieces and nephews Katie Brown, Amy (Don) Spivey, Susan Brown, Jenna (Mathew) Hanes, LeoraLee Lund, Brian (Christina) Brown, Tracy (Lisa) Brown, Troy (Judi) Brown, Matthew (Hope) Brown, Elizabeth (Steve) Collatz, Venessa (Matthew) Venskus, several great nieces and nephews, Amy (Shaun) Curry who she referred to as her second daughter and her many dear friends that were family.

All that had the pleasure of knowing Sue are welcome to attend her Celebration of Life on Saturday September 14th at the place she called home, 1121 Deleglise St, Antigo, WI at 11:00AM
