Susan Kay
Roeder
Sep 3, 1945 — Feb 20, 2025
Susan K. Roeder, 79, of Mosinee, WI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 20, 2025. Born in Wausau, WI, to the late Karl and Janet (Gehrt) Morisette, Susan lived a vibrant life filled with love, family, and a deep, abiding passion for animals.
Susan graduated from D.C. Everest High School and continued her education at North Central Technical Institute. On December 18, 1964, she married the love of her life, Gerald Roeder, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Wausau, WI. Their enduring marriage, spanning over 60 years, stood as a testament to their unwavering devotion and shared journey.
Susan's love for animals was a defining characteristic. As a young woman, she enjoyed the thrill of horse barrel racing. Later, with Gerald, she embarked on a successful career in competitive dog shows, raising and exhibiting Afghan hounds and later, Chinese crested dogs. Their dedication earned them over 30 championship titles in the United States and Canada, and they forged lasting friendships within the vibrant canine community. Susan's passion extended beyond the show ring; she also edited and produced a quarterly magazine for fellow enthusiasts of Chinese crested dogs, sharing her expertise and fostering a strong sense of community among her peers.
Susan is survived by her beloved husband, Gerald Roeder of Mosinee; her daughter, Rhonda (Brian) Stotmeister; step-brothers John Bandock, Bill Bandock, Jim Bandock, and Bob Bandock; and her step-father, Ben Bandock. She leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Karissa Stotmeister of Mosinee, Drew (Chasta) Stotmeister of Wausau, Olivia (Eric) Breitenfeldt of Wausau, and Grace Stotmeister of Milladore; four great-grandchildren: Terrance Stotmeister, Owen Breitenfeldt, Easton Stotmeister, and Harper Breitenfeldt.
A celebration of Susan's life will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church, 1130 Field Road, Kronenwetter, WI, on March 15, 2025. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by the service at 12:00 p.m. A luncheon will follow the service.
Susan's memory will be cherished by all who knew her. Her kind heart, unwavering spirit, and enduring love will be deeply missed. She will be remembered for her passion, her dedication, and the warmth she shared with everyone around her.
