In Loving Memory of Susan (Susie) Kay Thompson-Simon, 67 of Mosinee, who passed away February 5th, 2024 at Marshfield Clinic Weston Center.

With heavy hearts, we let go of our dear loved one, a cherished soul who touched the lives of many with her kindness, beauty, and unwavering love for animals, especially dogs. Susie passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side, straight into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ & her beloved parents. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion and joy.

Susan was born on July 23, 1956 in Wausau, WI to Arletta (Kohnhorst) Thompson and Kenneth Thompson. She enjoyed gardening & watching the birds appear on her feeders with a special fondness for cardinals. Susie was an animal lover, collected lion decor and wore animal prints or flowy dresses. She was a devoted employee at many local companies including Hoffman House, Holiday Inn, and SNE. She found her calling as a CNA at Mountain Terrace Senior Living. Her family was so proud of her to achieve such a wonderful position where she lived out her legacy of helping others. She truly cared for others and missed her residents when she was not with them.

Her true worth was not in the money that she made but in the lives that she touched and built relationships on trust and true kindness. Susie was more than just an animal lover; she was a beacon of light in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Her warmth and acceptance knew no bounds, and she had a rare gift of seeing the beauty in everyone without judgment. Her infectious laughter and zest for life made every moment in her presence a joyous occasion. Susie loved spending time with her family, making lifelong, loving memories together.

Susie's spirit of adventure and love for life was contagious, she approached every opportunity with fun and laughter. Her absence leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her memory will forever be cherished and celebrated.

Susie is survived by her loving husband, Lee Patrick Simon and her two fur babies, Stanley & Lil Bear, stepson, Kasey, sisters Sharon (William) Yach, Wausau, Debbie Purdy, Denver, Colorado, step-brother, Randy (Debbie) Letarski, Oshkosh, her nieces: Tracy (Mike) Osborn-Stelzer, Tammy (Mike) Waraksa, Terri (Shawn) Yeager, Ashley (Edwin) Bonayon; nephews: Shane Marks, Marshall (JoJo) Marks; great nieces: Aleigha, Ashlyn, Melina, Makayla, Charlotte, Nia, Presley, Faith, Austyn; great nephews: Carter, Easton, Ethan, Benson, Jase, Asher, Wisdom, Liam, Oakley. She is also survived by her loving mother-in-law Carole (Ken) Arndt, sister-in-laws, Terrie (Rick) Covin and Jodie (Gary) Liddle.

She was preceded in death by, her beloved mother, Arletta (Kohnhorst) Thompson, her father, Kenneth Thompson, her step-mother, Viola (Vi) Thompson and step-sister Gail Esker.

Her family will find solace in the countless cherished memories they shared with her. Though she may be gone from our sight, her spirit lives on in the gentle wag of a dog's tail. May Susie's legacy of love, kindness, and boundless joy continue to inspire us all as we carry her memory, always. Rest in peace, dear Susie. You will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life will be held at Crossroads Assembly at 1930 County Road XX, Rothschild on Friday, February 9th. Visitation will be held at 10am with a funeral service to follow at 11:30am with Rev. Dennis Romine officiating. A special thank you goes out to the staff and doctors of the hospital at Marshfield Clinic.
