In Loving Memory of Thomas Mayek Jr.
June 19, 1957 – October 23, 2021
Thomas "Tom/Tommy" Mayek Jr., age 64, of Stevens Point, went to be with our Lord on October 23rd, 2021, after genuinely impacting so many as a child of God, son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Above all, he was a humble man always serving others.
Born to the late Thomas and Frances (Shimek) Mayek on June 19th, 1957 in Stevens Point, WI. He grew up in the area and attended local schools. He was the seventh of twelve children. Tom married Elizabeth (Becky) Powell on September 13th, 1984. Together, they raised their children from previous marriages/relationships, as well as had two children together.
In his earlier years Tom was a handy man, working for other contractors and was also a lead farm hand for many years. Eventually, he built his own home, and became a Roofing Contractor and Business Owner. On the rare occasion he wasn't working, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his willingness to help anyone in need, his modest and simple living, his immense love for the outdoors and his ability to know exactly what the weather was going to be each day. He will be deeply missed and will forever remain in our hearts. Never big on "I love you's" or hugs and kisses, but you knew he cared through his humor, work ethic and selfless actions.
He is survived by his Wife, Elizabeth (Becky) Mayek; Brothers & Sisters: Helen (James) Pierson, Barbara Long, Chester Mayek, Raymond (Kathy) Mayek, MaryAnne Mayek, Kenny Mayek, Patrick Mayek, Teresa Keller and Brother-in-Law, Mike Mlynarski; Children: Chasidy (Ed) Newby, Jamie (Rob) Rowe, Jessica (Montel) Powell, Bradley (Beatrice) Webie, Trenton Mayek & Katrina (Jacob) Seavers; Grandchildren: Kaylee Newby, Brianne Newby, Lacey Newby, Sara Jaimes, Alex Jaimes, Lacie Jaimes, Zoe (Clayton) Ustabasi, Destinee (Christian) Ustabasi, Jada Sutheimer, Davina Scott, Alexa Webie, Avril Webie, Gavin Webie, Ariel, Shyann Seavers & Landon Seavers; and Great-Grandchildren: Alyssa Newby & Caden Swan; Many extended family and so many great friends.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Thomas Sr. and Frances Mayek; three Sisters: Carol Mayek, Lorraine Mayek & Caroline Mayek; and one Sister-in-Law, Laurie (Feltz) Mayek.
The family would like to thank Pastor Matt and his congregation at Refuge, the Compassus Hospice Team, the staff at the House of the Dove and the Buettger Funeral Home for all their care and support. Per his wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers for Tom, please be kind to someone. You never know what someone is going through or what they are dealing with. Kindness is free and can help someone more than you know. Details on future Celebration of his Life will soon be communicated through word of mouth.
