Thomas Zimmerman passed away surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. He was born March 8, 1938, to the late Ervin and Florence (Marske) Zimmerman.

On May 2, 1959, Thomas married the love of his life, Sharon Hitt. Together they shared 67 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, and steadfast commitment to one another.

Thomas proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserve and was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis. Following his military service, he discovered the work that would define much of his life—logging. Wood wasn't just his livelihood; it was his passion. He spent many years working for Jim Grezenski, earning a reputation as one of the hardest-working and most respected men in the logging community.

Even after retirement, Thomas never truly left the woods. He found peace cutting firewood, and anyone who knew him knew there wasn't a better day than one spent with a chainsaw in his hands. His meticulously stacked woodpiles were as legendary as his work ethic—straight, neat, and built to last.

Thomas was known throughout his community and the logging industry as a man of exceptional character. He was fair, honest, hardworking, and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His integrity, generosity, and quiet strength earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him.

When he wasn't in the woods, Thomas loved trains and enjoyed model railroading and restoring Allis-Chalmers tractors, taking pride in preserving pieces of history with the same care he brought to everything he did.

Above all else, Thomas cherished his family. His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; he treasured his little buddy, Shawn; his beautiful granddaughter, Shazia; and the shining stars in his eyes, his great-granddaughters, Alexa, Ariella, and Miley. His love for his family was unconditional, and they were the center of his world.

Thomas is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Sharon Zimmerman; his daughters, Lorena Von der Puetten and Kathy Luksich; his granddaughter, Shazia (Jared Runyon) Hussain; his cherished great-granddaughters, Alexa, Ariella, and Miley; as well as a niece and many nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Florence Zimmerman; his beloved son, Kirby; his cherished grandson, Shawn; his brother, Robert Zimmerman; and his sister Charlene (Dolezal)

Though his chainsaw has fallen silent and his work in the woods is complete, the legacy Thomas built through his love, labor, and unwavering dedication to his family will continue to stand strong for generations to come. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
