Obituary

Warren Torgerson, age 85, passed away on Saturday, December 6. Born and raised in Turtle Lake, WI, and a longtime resident of Wausau, WI, Warren leaves a legacy of care for others and a zest for life.

Warren never met a stranger. He had a remarkable way of making others feel seen and valued, whether through a thoughtful conversation, a helping hand, or a quiet act of love. His laughter, wisdom, and storytelling will be deeply missed.

As a math teacher, Warren influenced the lives of students at Wausau West High School for over three decades. With his many friends, he enjoyed camping trips, fishing expeditions, boating, motorcycling, and many other adventures in Wisconsin and beyond. His friends were family to him and dearly loved.

Throughout his life, Warren also found joy in serving alongside others. Most notably, he was an integral part of Kiwanis Club, Habitat for Humanity, the Wisconsin Educator's Association, and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church for over 60 years.

Warren was preceded in death by his wife Ruth and his sister Shirley. He is survived by his daughters, Wendy Torgerson (Ken Wanta) and Heidi Hahn (Andy), his grandchildren, Julia and Mathias Hahn, his sister Sharon Branzell (Bill), nephews Eric (Bridget) and Scott Hauck, and niece Mary Bock, all of whom carry forward the lessons Warren taught by example: to love generously, live with integrity, and find beauty in each day.

A celebration of Warren's life will be held in the summer of 2026.
